Terms & Conditions

Welcome to the Understanding Trauma Book Club, a space for professionals to engage in thoughtful, respectful, and informed discussions about trauma-focused literature. By joining, you agree to abide by the following terms and conditions, which are designed to foster a safe, professional, and supportive environment.

1. Purpose and Boundaries

  • The book club is a professional development resource and discussion space for practitioners working with individuals affected by trauma.

  • This is not a therapeutic group or personal therapy space, though we acknowledge participants may have lived experience of trauma. Discussions should remain focused on professional contexts and the books under review.

  • Participants must not use the space to promote personal businesses, services, or unrelated content.

2. Respectful Communication

  • All members are expected to engage in discussions with respect and professionalism. Personal insults, harassment, bullying, or any form of harmful behaviour will not be tolerated.

  • Constructive debate and challenging of ideas are welcome, but disagreements must remain respectful and professional.

  • Sharing experiences or questions about work must maintain client confidentiality. Any identifiable details must be anonymised or will otherwise be deleted with a warning issued.

3. Psychological Safety

To maintain a safe and inclusive space:

  • Personal attacks, discriminatory language, or any behaviour that undermines psychological safety will result in a warning.

  • After one warning, any further violation will lead to termination of membership without refund for the current month. For annual memberships, refunds will be pro-rated based on the remaining months.

4. Online Community Guidelines

  • The online community is a space for book-related discussions and professional exchanges.

  • Participants must refrain from posting:

    • Personal or sensitive information about themselves or others.

    • Promotional content unrelated to the book club's purpose.

    • Any content that violates confidentiality or the respectful nature of the space.

5. Monthly Meetups and Recordings

  • Book club meetups will take place monthly on Zoom and will be recorded for those who cannot attend live.

  • By participating in the meetups, you consent to being recorded. The recordings will only be accessible to other members of the book club and will be used for professional purposes.

  • Microphones should remain muted unless you are speaking to ensure smooth facilitation.

6. Payment and Refund Policy

  • Membership is £5 per month or £50 annually.

  • Membership is non-refundable for monthly subscriptions.

  • For annual subscriptions, if you are dissatisfied and choose to cancel, a refund will be issued based on the remaining months at the time of cancellation.

  • Failure to adhere to these terms may result in termination of your membership. Refunds will be handled as follows:

    • Monthly subscriptions: No refund for the current month.

    • Annual subscriptions: A pro-rata refund for the remaining unused months will be issued.

7. Privacy and Confidentiality

  • All discussions within the book club, both in live sessions and online, must remain confidential. Participants are expected to respect the privacy of others and avoid sharing discussions outside the group.

  • Members must anonymise any client-related content shared in discussions. Posts violating this rule will be removed, and the member may be issued a warning.

8. Reporting Issues

  • Members are encouraged to report any issues, concerns, or inappropriate behaviour directly to the host, Whitney.

  • You can contact Whitney through the online platform or via email at info@project507.org.

9. Host Rights

  • The organisers reserve the right to:

    • Issue warnings to members violating the terms.

    • Terminate memberships following one warning if inappropriate behaviour persists.

    • Deny access to the platform for non-payment of membership fees.

10. Final Notes

  • Membership provides access to monthly meetups, an online community, and ongoing discussions. The community remains active year-round, even during months without formal programming.

  • By joining, you agree to these terms and commit to contributing to a respectful, professional, and psychologically safe environment.
